One of the beautiful names of Allah is "Al-Ghaffur " the Forgiven one". Allah SWA has about ninety nine names. And each one carries a great message to mankind. We are all humans and bound to make mistakes in life. We also do commit sins to our creator. Allah said he created man only for us to worship him. The wealth, luxuries, family and all the worldly things are provided to man assist us in worshipping Allah.

Looking at the name Al-Ghaffur one can see the different mercies of Allah. Allah forgives all our sins. No sin is so mighty if we truly repent and turn to Allah in good faith. There was the story of a man who happened to be a murderer. He had killed up to 99 people. The man decided to turned into a good leaf by seeking advice from religious clerics.

The man was said to have told the first cleric the number of people he had killed. On hearing the numbers, the cleric told him that the intensity of his sin is enormours. The cleric also told the man that Allah will not forgive me. The man decided to kill the cleric and make him number 100.

The man then proceeded to another cleric and told him he had killed 100 people, including a cleric that told him Allah will not forgive him. The second cleric told him that Allah is the forgiving one and forgives all kinds of sins as long as the person repents truthfully.

Firstly, seeking for forgiveness on daily basis cleanses the heart from evil. It makes a Muslim to remember Allah. It fills the heart with the love of Allah. This is because as you recite "Oh Allah I seek for your forgiveness", you recite the name of Allah. No one whose heart is filled with God commits sins.

Secondly, according to a authentic Hadith by Buhari, he stated that the Prophet Muhammad always recite "Astagfirullah Wa Atubi Ilaihi" 100 times daily. So reciting and seeking for forgiveness is Sunnah. It is also following the deeds, sayings and approval of the Prophet.

Thirdly, seeking for forgiveness makes our prayers to be answered on time. When you seek forgiveness from Allah, you bring yourself closer to your creator. This in turn makes your prayers to be answered on time. So if you are seeking for the mercy of Allah many times through your supplications and prayers would be answered.
