You must have been wondering why the Muslims chose to dress in the same white clothing during their visits to Makkah.

Well, there are reasons and connotations to the white clothing worn during the Hajj pilgrimage by Muslims.

The clothing is called 'Ihrām' which translates to 'Holy.' It is obligatory upon every pilgrim to put it on while carrying out worship rituals in the Holy City of Makkah.

In this article we shall be going through the wisdoms and reasons behind the clothing according to the Islamic tradition:

1. The white clothing was chosen in order not draw attention during the Hajj worship.

If regular clothing is allowed, some people will dress with attractive clothes which will eventually distract others from focusing in worship.

2. To make the pilgrims humble. It shows that they are all one and equal in the sight of God. It does not matter your wealth or position, you are all obliged to dress just like everyone.

3. The Prophet Muhammad (Pbuh) loved white colour. It signifies peace, love and happiness. He urged Muslim faithfuls to always spread peace and love even in their mode of dressing.
